My visits to Cambodia

Rotarian Roy in Siem Rep Cambodia. Khan owns the motor bike and also works with AkiRa Mine Action Centre.

Cambodia still has millions of active land mines similar to the one I am holding here. Made from quality engineering and PVC they can weather and last for many many years to come.

Aki Ra below has himself recovered near 50,000 land mines. Skilled in this brave objective he teaches to Cambodian soldiers his techniques. See his website at AkiRa Mine Action Centre. Aki Ra has now adopted 20 children who are handicapped and orphans. All land mine victims. See me on his "Friends" website at Friends of AkiRa.

Although Aki Ra has successfully recovered near 50,000 land mines (I have seen them) his methods are said by some to be high risk. With the more technical methods claiming to have Cambodia safe in about 100 years, some believe it could be about 7 - 10 years at Aki Ra's present pace. Please read his life story at Aki Ra's Life. This man deserves the next Nobel Peace Prize. If you're interested in helping with the ongoing scholarships to help children he adopts who could go to college please see Scholarships.

Here Aki Ra is teaching an army platoon his techniques. Aki Ra is also in the Lonely Planet guide books.

I think the Khmer have one of the world's most delicious foods.

See 100s of photos of Angkor and its temples in my photo album.

2007 Trip, Students and Akira's Camp. Special Thank You to Lisa from Canada

My friend Rotarian Lisa from Canada spends months helping these children with their school.
